Canon A1

Sorry, this item has sold.

Released in 1978, the A-1 is one of the most historically significant cameras of the 35mm SLR era because it was the first SLR to offer electronically-controlled programmed auto-exposure. Using a microprocessor rather than input from the photographer, the camera is capable of choosing a shutter speed and aperture setting that will result in a perfectly exposed image. Today this feature can be found in virtually every camera in production, but the very first to include it was the A-1.

But not to be limited to just Program mode, the A-1 was also impressive for its ability to shoot in every one of the now-standard shooting modes (aperture-priority, shutter priority, and full manual). This combination of shooting modes set the A-1 apart from the other A-series cameras, and offered a wealth of features not found in any of the competing brands’ machines.

This camera is in very good condition having had a fresh CLA with the Canon Squeal repaired so you will have no obnoxious pew-pew when ever you fire the shutter, and fresh light seal and mirror bumper applied. This camera was well loved by it's previous owner, and is ready for many more years of dedicated service. No dents, scratches, or broken parts, and comes with the battery cover hand grip. Comes mounted with Rokinon 28mm f2.8 lens.

Also available as a kit with more lenses!

No battery, look for PX28 or uses 3AG13 or LR44

Due to the nature of vintage items being used, we cannot guarantee that any item will be in perfect working condition. Oftentimes vintage items need a bit more creativity to operate than a brand new item and can have unique quirks like a stiff button, or wiggly latch. We do our best to thoroughly test and describe the condition of every item we sell.
Returns will be handled on a case by case basis.
