Braun Paxette Electromatic I

$32.35

In 1959 the Braun Paxette electromatic was advertised as the world's first fully automatic 35mm camera. Its selenium meter controlled the aperture and gave a red/green light sufficiency signal in the viewfinder. But other automatic functions were missing. Instead, the focusing of the Ennagon 1:5.6/40mm lens was fixed, and it had only the single shutter speed 1/40 sec. Film speed had to be selected manually to obtain proper exposure by the aperture system.

In good working condition mechanically, this camera has some fun features that would make it a joy to shoot. This generation of the Paxette was unusual in featuring lever-rewind as well as lever advance. The selenium light meter seems to be burned out unfortunately, so the automatic functions do not appear to work.

Returns and exchange details

Due to the nature of vintage items being used, we cannot guarantee that any item will be in perfect working condition. Oftentimes vintage items need a bit more creativity to operate than a brand new item and can have unique quirks like a stiff button, or wiggly latch. We do our best to thoroughly test and describe the condition of every item we sell.
Returns will be handled on a case by case basis.
