From 1890 to 1930, more houses were built in the United States than all of the country's prior years combined and very few homes had built-in kitchen cabinets during the 19th century. It was not until the late 1920s that built-in cabinets became a standard kitchen furnishing.

A Hoosier cabinet is a stand-alone kitchen cabinet considered an improved version of a baker's cabinet. The Hoosier cabinet expands on the baker's cabinet by offering a pull-out workspace/shelf and storage for everything a cook would need.

About this cabinet:
A sturdy piece made of solid wood which has been refinished at some point over the hundred years it's been around, the base section has one large compartment for storing potatoes, as well as a slide-out shelf that offers more workspace, and several drawers to one side. The top portion is shallower and has several smaller compartments with doors including a mirrored center cupboard which is stamped P. Bros Ltd. - British Silvered - Dec 1913 and helps us date this piece.

This piece measures 77" tall in total and is in two pieces for easier moving. The top portion is 12" deep while the base is 26" deep and is 48" wide. Weighs a couple hundred pounds and requires two or more strong people to lift and carry out. Delivery within the GTA or surrounding area can be arranged at an additional charge through a third party company we can recommend.

Overseas orders 1lb or 12" or under will automatically ship via Air Mail at 7 - 10 business days. Orders over these dimensions will ship via SEA MAIL which takes 6 - 12 weeks with orders usually arriving within 7 weeks.

Overseas orders over 1lb or 12" can be upgraded to Air Mail service but this can be up to double the shipping cost. For most accurate rate, contact us.
