Salt and pepper shakers were cheap, easy to carry and colourful and made ideal gifts and souvenirs. Some of the world’s leading ceramics companies began producing salt and pepper shakers, and Japan had a large share of the market from the late 1920s and throughout the 1930s, as well as the late 1940s and 1950s. The disruption was caused by World War II, and the shakers produced by Japan in the post-war years, labelled ‘Made in occupied Japan’, or simply ‘Occupied Japan’ are highly sought after.
Judging from the style and the plastic stoppers in the bottom, this set of apple salt and pepper shakers looks to be from the late 1950's and is unmarked on the bottom. In excellent condition with very little crazing to the glaze. Perfectly suitable for every day use!

Due to the nature of vintage items being used, we cannot guarantee that any item will be in perfect working condition. Oftentimes vintage items need a bit more creativity to operate than a brand new item and can have unique quirks like a stiff button, or wiggly latch. We do our best to thoroughly test and describe the condition of every item we sell.
Returns will be handled on a case by case basis.
