Unique Handcrafted Wooden Torus Objet'd Art - Doug McKay Woodworking

Ask a question

This unique piece of wood art was meticulously crafted by local woodworker Doug McKay who works with naturally fallen wood from neighbourhood trees, an occupation that has him going out after storms searching for interesting pieces of wood to take back to his shop to dry until it's ready to be turned in to the piece it was meant to be.

While Doug makes bowls to sell at shops and shows, his love is the art of woodworking and the construction of complex shapes with simple materials. To create this wooden torus he has taken small pieces of different types of wood and cut them just so in order to mend them together to form this shape. A mathematical feat accomplished with wood. Many interesting textures with some knots and minor cracks that are just beautiful to look at with such a regular shape being created from such an irregular material.

Comes with a small wooden stand for photographing but this is not a very stable stand for it to stay on. This piece was designed to lay flat like a big donut, but if you find just the right thing to put under it, it will stand.

Due to the nature of vintage items being used, we cannot guarantee that any item will be in perfect working condition. Oftentimes vintage items need a bit more creativity to operate than a brand new item and can have unique quirks like a stiff button, or wiggly latch. We do our best to thoroughly test and describe the condition of every item we sell.
Returns will be handled on a case by case basis, and partial refunds will not be given under any circumstances.

Returns must be shipped back at customer's expense and original purchase and shipping will be refunded after a case is opened with Canada Post.
